The French West Indies

Eighteen months of planning came to fruition as I spent a week on a 51-foot catamaran visiting the beaches of the French West Indies . A new EWA soft underwater camera housing allowed me to take my new digital Nikon below. Like the US and some South American countries, the French are discovering the value of eco-tourism.  They have isolated a number of marine parks where wildlife is protected. While I was away, President Bush officially created our nation’s newest national monument; the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands Corel Reef Ecosystem Reserve comprising islands scattered across 1,400 miles of Pacific.

Here are some other pictures I took during the trip.  (You can click to see them a little bigger).
